The Mississippi Juvenile Justice Reform Briefing Book documents the severely abusive and wasteful nature of Mississippi's current juvenile justice system and proposes reforms that help troubled youth and save taxpayer money. The Briefing Book was distributed to Mississippi legislators at the opening of the 2005 session.
The Briefing Book was written, designed and produced by the Southern Poverty Law Center as part of the Mississippi Coalition to Prevent Schoolhouse to Jailhouse. The Coalition is a statewide group of education, community, legal and public policy groups dedicated to protecting Mississippi's children - the state's most valuable resource.
