In this opinion piece in the Huntsville Times, Alabama Juvenile Court Judges M. Lynn Sherrod and Brian Huff and Georgia Juvenile Court Judge Steven Teske recommend reducing school referrals to juvenile court for minor, nonviolent offenses, and discuss a method--creating a "School Offense Protocol"--by which communities can cooperatively reach that goal.
